A Christmas message from the President of PCSNJ, INC.
Dear PC family,
I share this Christmas message with you as one that is filled with hope. It should also serve as a message of unity for all our families despite the challenges that we continued to face during the past year.
This Christmas Season, and in the spirit of promoting PCSNJ, Inc.’s mission, I encourage you to enjoy at least one of the many Filipino traditions during Pasko, in some instances – with continued caution due to the lingering COVID-19 Pandemic.
-
Setting up a Belen (Nativity Scene) in your home.
-
Adorning your home with a Parol (Christmas lantern).
-
Attending Simbang Gabi (Midnight Mass).
-
Indulging in Christmas food like rice cakes often referred to as bibingka (rice cake baked in clay pots and leaves) or puto bumbong (rice cake steamed in bamboo tubes).
-
Caroling from house to house.
-
Attending Misa de Gallo (first mass after the 9 days of Simbang Gabi)
-
Waking up at Noche Buena (midnight feast) leading up to Christmas day.
-
Giving aguinaldo or Pamasko (Christmas gifts) if you are a ninang (godmother) or ninong
(godfather) to an inaanak (godchild).
Whatever way we choose to celebrate, let us also remember the true meaning of Christmas.
Christmas is about the celebration of God’s ultimate gift: the birth of Jesus, the Christ child.
Christmas is our opportunity to continue to be grateful and give praise to God Almighty, for all the blessings and especially for sharing His only Son – Jesus Christ.
